Sweet Potatoes vs. White Potatoes

This is a common question among many of the members who attend my nutrition seminar questions. Why do I recommend sweet potatoes over white potatoes?

Well…

  • Sweet potatoes have a low glycemic index versus white potatoes. Therefore, will maintain stable blood sugars (blood glucose) in the body and will not cause a quick rise followed by a fast crash in blood sugars (which leads to sluggish feelings and hunger).
  • Sweet potatoes contain much greater amounts of Vitamin A versus regular potatoes.
  • B-carotene gives them their orange colour which is known to maintain healthy eye vision and a healthy immune system
  • Sweet potatoes are also a source of soluble fiber
